Apply a base coat, then paint your nails a solid red (this color is more red than it appears in these pictures).

Use a sparkly silver to lightly paint over each ring finger (the red should still show through).

With the sparkly blue color, lightly start at the base of the nail and paint halfway up into the silver.

Remove excess polish from silver brush, so it's pretty dry. From the top of the nail, use this brush to blend the silver back down into the blue, blurring the line for an ombre effect.

Last step! Use a q-tip soaked in nail polish remover to clean up your edges, then apply a shiny top coat.

Also, if you’re looking for outfit inspiration for the 4th, make sure to checkout this vintage American look I put together last year. I recommend picking one patriotic thing, and working neutrals around that so as not to go overboard. 🙂

Candy Colors, Pastel, and Snakeskin Print

Spring is here, and that means pastels and candy colors are sweetening up the stores! Try mixing candy colors/pastels with a snakeskin print accessory (or piece of clothing) to balance out the sweetness a bit. Limit it to one snakeskin printed item per outfit so you don’t overkill it.

I especially like this look mixed with coral, mint green, pale blues, lavender, or even lace texture! Here’s the Style Trials inspiration board:

Snakeskin, Pastels, and Candy Combos

Astr lace cocktail dress / Metropolis mint dress / Joie sweater / Blue jacket / Rare London sequin bodycon skirt, $51 / Tulle skirt, $26 / American Eagle Outfitters / Pour La Victoire pumps / Rachel Zoe / Blink platform shoes, $76 / Dolce & Gabbana colorful handbag, $1,445 / Clutch / UNEARTHED imitation jewelry / GUESS bracelet / Coach bracelet jewelry / Mint earrings / Tory Burch stud earrings / Essie nail polish, $12 / Mint Green Stripe Short Paper Milkshake Straws | Milkshake Straws |… / Maxi colar ovais candy colors / Essie Camera, $15
You may have noticed me posting on instagram a few key pieces I picked up myself!

Pastel nails of course are still really popular too, and tend to look great on all skin tones.
This style combo is a fresh take for Spring, and especially for upcoming Easter. But remember, you don’t want to look like an Easter egg, so limit yourself to a few key pieces, mix in some neutrals (nude, white, black, and/or metallics), and toughen it up with a print like snakeskin.

Cruise and Beach Vacation Essentials – Stock Up On End of Summer Sales!

Cruises, beaches, tropical resorts! You’re probably wondering why I’m doing this post going into Fall, huh? In my attempt to hang onto the last bits of Summer, I actually have good reasoning beyond that. Here’s why!

  1. Summer is ending so now is the time to find great stuff on clearance and stock up for next year.
  2. I live in Florida so it’s still 90+ degree beach weather!
  3. Most importantly, my husband Gary and I are celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary NEXT WEEK (yayyy!) on an 8-day Carnival cruise! SOO EXCITED!!! 🙂 While cruises are definitely top of my mind right now, I actually know a lot of other people who are going/just went on a cruise too. Makes sense because you can find great deals on cruises in the off-season.

Whatever the case, my universal problem with traveling has always been packing because, let’s face it, I pack way too much….I like options! So I thought long and hard to narrow the essential must-have pieces for a cruise or really any other beachy, tropical getaway. You can use this as a packing guide, or inspiration for items to hunt during these end-of-season sales.

CRUISE WEAR

Obviously it doesn’t have to be these exact pieces, but this is a general idea of basics to include. A few tank tops and shorts, a casual sundress, a swimsuit coverup, a nicer outfit you can dress up or down (like the romper), comfy flip flops, and dressier shoes that still look casual (platform wedges).

You’ll want to accessorize with a bag that is fairly neutral so you can wear it with everything, cool sunglasses, and a straw beach hat. Of course you’ll need a few bikini options, and I’d suggest mix-and-match bikinis so you can get more looks out of less pieces. Victoria’s Secret is actually having an end-of season sale right now on their swimwear, so I’d suggest checking it out! I just stocked up.

WHAT’S IN MY CRUISE BEAUTY BAG

If you’re like me and don’t want to be pale in a bikini, you should checkout the Style Trials Bronze Skin Series for the BEST Self tanners.

I just want to leave you with one last thing. Have a great Labor Day weekend, and think of me while I’M ON A BOAT!

Yeeeep, I just went there. 🙂

How to get a Flawless Face

I recently got a request to do a flawless face tutorial, and I LOVE requests! There are many things that can go into a flawless face, starting with good skincare, but I wanted to focus this tutorial on an everyday makeup routine that’s a perfect base for ANY makeup look. I cover tips and techniques for achieving this look and making it your own, touching on a few beauty tricks. It really depends on how much coverage you’re going for, but for my preference I like a minimal look for everyday, which I showcase in the video. I do mention ways to get heavier coverage though (which I love to do for nighttime or blotchy skin problems), so make sure to watch the entire thing!

I forgot to mention in the video that before you start any flawless face look, you start with a clean, moisturized face. I also like to add face primer to smooth out skin and have makeup last longer.

Red, White, and Blue Inspiration – The Perfect Look for the 4th of July!

I love the “American Vintage” style, so I wanted to do a quick post in honor of the 4th of July! I typically prefer vintage pieces of American flag apparel to be worn outside of patriotic holidays (it’s more unexpected), but for a bit of fun try this out for the holiday. It’s a cool, casual look that you can take anywhere, and more than likely you’ll be in a crowd of people outside celebrating in the heat. With that being said, choose the type of bag/shoe that works best for you and your activities, as this is meant to be more of an inspiration.

What will you be wearing for the 4th? Do you dig this look?

How to do a Brown Smokey Eye – HOT Makeup Look!

If eyes are supposedly  “the window to your soul,” than a smokey eye is definitely the window to a guy’s heart. Not only that, a smokey eye will make you feel smokin’ hot! Check it out!

This makeup trend gives a sexy, smoldering gaze, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you need to stick to traditional colors of dark grays and silvers. For example, have you ever tried a blue, green, or brown smokey eye? Follow my steps to try your own shade variation, or follow my tutorial below exactly for a brown, bronzy look (which is really the latest in the smokey eye world). Please make sure your volume is turned completely up! I’m using a backup camera while my other one is getting fixed (dropped it in the sink, ugh!).

PRODUCTS USED

  • MAC Paint Pot – “Painterly”
  • MAC Eyeshadow Highlighter – “Nylon”
  • MAC Eyeshadow Lid Color – “Amber Lights”
  • MAC Eyeshadow Crease – “Swiss Chocolate”

I specifically love this brown smokey eye because it’s fresher, can transition from day to night if needed (it’s not as intense but still sultry),  and a lot of Celebs are rocking this look!

Amber Heard with a brown smokey eye.

So go ahead, give a brown smokey eye a try. You will FALL IN LOVE. Also, make sure to checkout my massive eyelash tutorial, which goes hand-in-hand with any glam look!
